Free download gorillaz reject false icons stickers. Reject False Icons is a film which is a real treat for fans of Gorillaz. In short, the film covers the making of "Humanz" and "The Now Now" while their Humanz Tour took place during 2017 and 2018. The entire film is shot in black/white, with some exceptions here and there. It gives a nice touch.
The film itself does not have any commentary or offers any, and as such, the movie goes on in showing highlights of their tour and composing of the albums. It's really interesting to see how Damon and Jamie have worked a lot the past 20 years on Gorillaz, and if I am honest, the movie sparkled the light and made me remember why I love Gorillaz in the first place.
The band has become from a 3 man team to a full-fledged 100+ family. Gorillaz has become such a diverse band and has a criminal record of collaborations around the world. During the clips you saw while the album Humanz was made, you could see and feel the excitement of the entire team during production. They were on fire, had passion, and made the thing as good as it can be. It's a bunch of people working on new projects, while the hyperrealistic nature of the 4 characters is always put first. The band is one of the best that are out there and just started after 2 people sat on a couch and said "Let's make a band" intending to criticise the music industry with each of the characters resembling an oversaturation of a tribe.
The film included a lot of live performances from various albums and paid tribute to Ibrahim Ferrer (Latin Simone, also known for Buena Vista Social Club in Kuba. Bobby Womack (Stylo) which was one of the best moments in the film. It showed respects to so many talented people, everyone was treated equally and shown in the film at least thrice. There were a lot of unique artists being on stage and behind the scenes.
The film had some honourable mentions, including:
- Damon sneezing on-stage, never happened to him once.
- Him visiting a musical group which made their instruments out of reusable material, and got handed a custom made violin
- Him screaming into the camera like a madman and playing a banana like a saxophone afterwards
- The Now Now took only 5 weeks and was recorded during the break of the Humanz tour
As of their tour, they have performed 96 times over 2 years and played music as high as over a week worth.
Reject False Icons is a documentary which shows character, charm, and love for the band we know.
I ts surprising, given the virtual pop-band conceit, that there wasnt a full-length animated Gorillaz film years ago. But Reject False Icons, after Ceri Levys Bananaz from 2008, is the second “behind the scenes” documentary. Its telling: Murdoc, 2D, Noodle and Russel have slowly been overwhelmed in the course of the projects two-decade history by its operational reality – which now verges on, as this film points out, 100 contributors. Making up for the fact that illustrator Jamie Hewletts gargoyle-ish ensemble are present only in flashy cutaways, his son Denholm gets to prowl behind the scenes on recording sessions for recent back-to-back albums Humanz and The Now Now, and the world tour that Damon Albarn s funky omnibus packed in around them. The downside of family involvement is that everything is strictly sanctioned. Albarn jokes in an after-credits scene about the directorial whippersnapper exposing all his “idiosyncrasities”. But they amount here to nothing more than being perpetually on muso cloud nine, orchestrating, among others, Mavis Staples, Little Simz, actor Ben Mendelsohn and one-time nemesis Noel Gallagher in the studio and on stage. Albarns capering, grufty mug and gold tooth make him resemble some mixing-desk Steptoe though, generally, he seems a lot happier than the self-regarding figure who sometimes appeared in Britpop documentaries. If there were personality clashes, we dont see them, nor is there any inquiry into the bands USP, the relationship between sound and image, or how Albarn corrals his collaborators. Hewlett opts for a nippy edit, never lingering on any vignette or performance. Which stops us savouring any single musical highlight – though Peven Everett, with his lightning-bolt vocals, has an energising effect, a more-than-able deputy for the late Bobby Womack. Its ironic that the film doesnt just reject false icons but, to some extent, the bands cartoon avatars, too; in prioritising Gorillaz meatspace, it inadvertently confirms the marginalisation of the original concept. Still, with Hewlett Jr often chronicling events in cool monochrome, shooting in close proximity if not exactly total intimacy, this snappy scrapbook tips the hat to the infectious creativity of Albarns travelling circus. • Gorillaz: Reject False Icons is release on 16 December. • This article was amended on 18 December 2019. Reject False Icons from the Rock It video. Reject False Icons was a Gorillaz marketing campaign to advertise their new video for the song, Rockit. Fans could download a file with the words "Reject False Icons" in white with a black background. The idea was for them to download it and print it off on sticky back paper and stick it onto false icons, for example, fashion magazines and pictures of models. The full line is "Respect False Icons, Reject False Icons. According to Noodle, Reject False Icons means many things, one of them is to think for yourself. The phrase is meant to say that people should appreciate things like music and other media, but not idolize them. Also, they should pick what they like, not what the media likes. Ironically, the second half of the phrase is used by many people to shoot down what other appreciate (like other music artists) and idolize their own bands. Trivia The name of this campaign was one of the original names of Gorillaz's second album before the name was confirmed to be Demon Days.
GUYS, SHOW SOME APPRECIATION FOR THIS GLORIOUS ANIMATION HERE: Looking back at this from watching it the day it came out, I'm really starting to notice the fine detail within the animation. The way Murdoc slightly nudges 2D to direct his attention to Cyborg Noodle malfunctioning, 2D mouthing words to Murdoc as the bounty hunter gets closer, even small things that really portray their characters through their personal animations such as 2D slowly ducking his head down in the beginning when the police were coming or when the cop car was shot off to the side of the road and 2D shot Murdoc that questioning look. All of it is EXQUISITELY done. Seriously, props to the animators on this. These small details are what REALLY stick out and make an animation believable and life-like, and they nailed it.

The app was based on Korg's Electribe: R device app. [60] 61] On 5 October 2011, Gorillaz released their first "greatest hits" compilation, The Singles Collection 2001–2011. [62] On 9 February 2012, Gorillaz announced " DoYaThing. a single to promote the Gorillaz-branded Converse shoes that were soon to be released. The song would be part of Converse's "Three Artists, One Song" projects, with the two collaborators being James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem and André 3000 of Outkast. An explicit, 13-minute-long version of the song became available for listening shortly after on Hewlett returned to direct the single's music video, featuring animated versions of the two collaborators on the track. [63] In April 2012, Albarn told The Guardian that he and Hewlett had fallen out and that future Gorillaz projects were "unlikely. 64] Tension between the two had been building, partly due to a belief held by Hewlett that his contributions to Gorillaz were being diminished. Speaking to The Guardian in April 2017, Hewlett explained: Damon had half the Clash on stage, and Bobby Womack and Mos Def and De La Soul, and fucking Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and Bashy and everyone else. It was the greatest band ever. And the screen on stage behind them seemed to get smaller every day. Id say, ‘Have we got a new screen? and the tour manager was like, ‘No, its the same screen. Because it seemed to me like it was getting smaller. 65] On 25 April 2012, in an interview with Metro, Albarn was more optimistic about Gorillaz' future, saying that once he had worked out his differences with Hewlett, he was sure that they would make another record. [66] On 24 June 2013, Hewlett stated that he and Albarn planned to someday record a follow-up to their 2010 album Plastic Beach. [67] 68] Humanz (2014–17. edit] In April 2014, Albarn told the National Post that he "wouldn't mind having another stab at a Gorillaz record. 69] Two months later he reported that he had "been writing quite a lot of songs on the road for Gorillaz. 70] On 19 October 2014, Albarn told The Sydney Morning Herald that he was planning to release new Gorillaz material in 2016. [71] Albarn has described the music that he has written for the next Gorillaz album as being very upbeat, humorous, and positive, stating that he plans on giving the tracks "a benchmark of 125 bpm and nothing underneath that" while also suggesting that it once again may have many collaborations. The first clip featured Liam Bailey and rumoured executive producer on the album The Twilite Tone. The second clip was a time-lapse video featuring Albarn, Bailey, The Twilite Tone and Jean-Michel Jarre. [81] 82] 83] 84] On 20 September 2016, Gorillaz began an abridged retrospective timeline of the history of Gorillaz releases since 2000. [85] 86] 87] On 3 October 2016, Gorillaz began posting a series of interactive multimedia stories revolving around the fictional lives of each Gorillaz character since their hiatus to their social media profiles, beginning with The Book of Noodle (she ended up in Japan and tracked down a demon crime boss) then The Book of Russel (he was still a giant from the storyline of Plastic Beach, where he washed up on the shores of North Korea and starved so much he shrank back to normal size) then The Book of Murdoc (he was captured by the band's record label EMI at sea and told to make another album) and finishing with The Book of 2-D (he was swallowed by a whale named Massive Dick on Plastic Beach, and washed up on the shores of Mexico, where to survive he had to eat the whale's blubber, but it turned out he was just at an empty part of Cabo San Lucas. 88] Gorillaz (with Albarn to the left) on stage at the Brixton Academy in London, June 2017 On 8 October 2016, Noodle was given her own Instagram page and was announced to be the Global Ambassador of Jaguar Racing. [89] On 19 January 2017, a new song from the band entitled " Hallelujah Money " featuring Benjamin Clementine was released. [90] 91] On 6 March, Gorillaz announced the launch of their own festival, called Demon Dayz Festival, which took place on 10 June 2017 at Dreamland Margate in Margate, Kent, England. Let Me Out. featuring Mavis Staples and Pusha T) was released, followed by a performance of the song on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on 27 April. [101] On 10 April 2017, a Gorillaz themed augmented reality app created in collaboration with Electronic Beats was released. On 24 April 2017, four days before the Humanz release date, another promotional single was uploaded, titled "The Apprentice. It is the only new song taken from the deluxe edition of Humanz. On 28 April 2017, Humanz was released worldwide. On 8 June 2017, the non-album single " Sleeping Powder " was released, along with an accompanying music video. On 10 June 2017, the band headlined the Demon Dayz Festival in Margate, England. On 4 August 2017 the band released " Strobelite " as a single with an accompanying music video. [102] On 31 October 2017, Garage Palace" was released as a single from the "Super Deluxe" Edition of Humanz, which includes 14 additional songs and was released on 3 November 2017. [106] On 21 February 2018, the band received the Brit Award for British Group for their work on Humanz. During their acceptance speech, a short-video of Murdoc was played, showing him being imprisoned for an unknown reason. [107] The Now Now (2018–19. edit] In an interview with Q Magazine in September 2017, Albarn hinted at another potential Gorillaz album being in production. He mentioned enjoying the spontaneity of recording and debuting music while on tour, similarly to the band's 2010 release The Fall, but expressed desire to make it a comparatively more "complete" record, adding that "If we're going to do more with Gorillaz we don't want to wait seven years because, y'know, we're getting on a bit now. 108] At the end of the same month on 30 September 2017 while touring for Humanz, the band debuted a new song in Seattle called "Idaho. Hewlett confirmed later on in December 2017 that the band planned to release a follow-up album to Humanz in 2018, citing a desire to keep the band going rather than take any prolonged breaks as the band had usually done with previous projects. Hewlett described several of the demos and new material as a "new direction" for the band, stating that he hopes to move the band's artwork in a similar direction. [109] During a performance in Chile on the final leg of the Humanz Tour, Albarn confirmed that the new album was coming "very soon" and premiered a new song called " Hollywood " featuring Jamie Principle and Snoop Dogg. In the fictional Gorillaz storyline, the band introduced Ace from Cartoon Network 's animated series The Powerpuff Girls as a temporary bassist of the band, filling in for the imprisoned Murdoc Niccals (as seen in the band's Brit Awards acceptance speech for Humanz. 118] From 4 June to 26 October 2018, the band ran a bi-weekly text-adventure ARG called "Free Murdoc" in which the player assists Murdoc as he attempts to escape from prison. [123] On 25 October, the band announced they would be partnering with G-Shock to create a line of Gorillaz watches. A 23-second promotional track entitled "Song Machine Theme Tune" was released on streaming services with an accompanying video. [133] Each episode will feature previously unannounced guest musicians on new Gorillaz material, with the first being " Momentary Bliss. which features both British rapper Slowthai and the Kent -based punk rock duo Slaves. [134] Upon the premiere of "Momentary Bliss" Albarn revealed that the group had been in the studio with ScHoolboy Q and Sampa the Great among others, although he did say that these songs were likely to be saved for future series of Song Machine. [136] Style [ edit] Writers and critics have variously described Gorillaz' music as alternative rock, 137] art pop, 138] hip hop, 139] pop, 140] trip hop, 141] dark pop, 142] alternative hip hop, 143] rap rock, 144] indie rock, 145] electronica, 2] bedroom pop, 146] dance-rock, 147] new wave, 148] funk [148] and worldbeat. [151] Live performances [ edit] Gorillaz performed Demon Days at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York in April 2006. In March 2001, Gorillaz played their first show at the Scala in London before embarking on a tour later that summer, with one date in Paris and two in Japan. The show, called Gorillaz Live, saw the live band playing behind a giant projector screen which covered the whole stage, on which was projected various visuals and images created by Hewlett. After taking a short break over the holidays, the tour resumed with a North American leg in February 2002. [152] In November 2005, Gorillaz performed Demon Days Live, a five night residency at the Manchester Opera House in Manchester, England in which the album Demon Days was presented in its entirety. The event was filmed by an EMI film crew for a DVD release, Demon Days Live, in late March 2006. It was later announced that an American version of the event would take place in April 2006 at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York. Within an hour of release tickets were sold out. [153] The show of 6 April was filmed for a live webcast at MSN Video. [154] Palladia (then known as MHD) also broadcast an Apollo Theater show in HDTV on 31 December 2006. [155] Gorillaz performing at the Roundhouse in London, April 2010 In March 2010, Gorillaz began a short six date tour as "rehearsal" shows for their headlining slot at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The shows were open exclusively to Gorillaz Sub Division fan club members and featured no visuals whatsoever. These performances were the band's first public performances in four years. Gorillaz headlined the final night of the Coachella Festival on 18 April 2010 as their first proper, full show. On 27 April they were the main guests on Later. with Jools Holland on the BBC. In addition, Gorillaz played a two-night residency at London's Camden Roundhouse (29 and 30 April 2010. Mick Jones and Paul Simonon of the Clash performed guitar and bass respectively with the band and more than once in the evening chords from the Clash song " Guns of Brixton " were heard as a subtle reference to their presence. [156] Gorillaz embarked on the Escape to Plastic Beach Tour in October 2010, with some concerts preceding festival dates in the summer, such as at the Byblos Festival in Lebanon, the Roskilde Festival in Denmark, headlining the Glastonbury Festival in England and one show at the Citadel of Damascus in Syria. With 53 scheduled shows and lasting over a year, it was Gorillaz' longest tour in their history. [161] On 6 December, Gorillaz announced they would be playing BoomTown Fair as an "exclusive one-off UK show. 162] After 53 performances, on 30 March 2018, Humanz Tour concluded in São Paulo, Brazil. For this was the unlikely genesis for Gorillaz, the Worlds Most Succesful Virtual Band. Hewlett explains: ‘Damon and I were living together in a flat on Westbourne Grove (in London) and he bought one of the first plasma screens. It was one of those massive ones where we could watch ten channels at the same time, which we did on a big leather couch. The pair lost hours watching MTV in particular, which induced in them a growing frustration at what they saw as vertiginous decline in pop culture at the time. ‘It wasnt the videos as such, it was the bands. They were so phony and manufactured and they were so clearly playing up to it. It was almost as if in order to be a sellable commodity you had to adapt a character also. Which is fine, but why cant they do it well? The Monkees were a manufactured band, but they were brilliant. So my question to Damon was, If its manufactured, why cant people do it properly? And with that question hanging in the air, the duo set to work. Albarn created the music- a superb collision of musical styles which ram raided the very best chapters of the Pop Encyclopaedia, from reggae to country to psychedelia and dub. And Hewlett designed the band, a quartet of characters with outrageous back stories and outsized personalities to boot. 2D was the charismatic but vacuous frontman and keyboardist, constantly locking horns with the contemptuous bassist Murdoc Niccals. Ten year old Noodle was on guitars, and Russel Hobbs was on drums and percussion, while also possessed of the ability to channel the souls of dead rappers from a fictional hip-hop canon. Together they looked like the coolest group that (n)ever lived, making music and hanging out at the legendary HQ Kong Towers. The characters were impeccable and the concept immaculate but, crucially, unlike other virtual pop bands such as The Archies, Gorillaz had the killer tunes to match, and soon enough this theoretical band became a very real worldwide success. Heralded by the hits ‘Clint Eastwood and ‘19-2000′, the eponymous debut album shot to number 3 in the UK charts, selling over five million copies worldwide. It was outdone, however, by its successor Demon Days, which topped the UK charts on release and ended up going platinum five times over; the third album, Plastic Beach, entered the charts at number 2. And then there was also a fourth album, The Fall, released as a free download on the Gorillaz website to fans in the Sub Division fan club. The band broke records in the US, Europe, Australia and beyond, spawned toys and clothing lines, netted Brit and MTV Awards and even, for Hewlett, a Designer of the Year Award from Londons Design Museum in 2006. With Gorillaz, Albarn and Hewlett didnt so much push the boundaries of what a band could be as redefine the musical landscape entirely. We yell, as loudly as possible, FIRE IN THE HOLE! three times. ” Lucas confuses cattle and startles sheep in adjacent counties. “If you hear that cry and are not sure whats going on, or where, freeze! Send up a flare. Shout. Scream. Draw attention to yourself. You may be in imminent danger. Let someone know, there are only seconds to go. ” I warn. Continuing… “Then we give one last look around. Just in case. ” “Now it gets really interesting. My own self or one of my duly authorized deputies will take the demolition wire and hand it over. I will galv it, dont worry, Ill explain all that a bit later, and hook it to a detonator of some kind. ” Everyones still scribbling. “Then, we do a quick check again, make sure all is clear. I point to the blaster person, and yell “HIT IT! ”. “Then theres a big boom. Any questions? ” There were none. Gad, this is thirsty work. “OK, break time. Make sure you have your hardhats. See you back here in 15. ” I applaud Lucas on his demonstrative skills. I ask him to take a small package and secret it out in the desert in a hole some 150 or so meters distant behind us. I go get myself a Grape Nehi and Lucas a Nehi Red. D wanders over with a coffee and tells me he finds my method of teaching and demonstration most laudable. “High praise, indeed”, I reply, “Thanks, Doc. ” We go on with the hardware theyre likely to encounter in this business. Blasters pliers. Demolition wire, Western Union splices, set-pull-forget fuses, blasting caps and blasting cap super boosters. The care and feeding of a galvanometer. Blasting standoffs, ‘Elephant Shit, reduction splicing, Plunger-type blasting machines, ‘Captain America-type electronic blasting machines, Remotely operated blasting actuators and blasting mats. I call for questions. There are none. I then call for another quick break so Lucas and I can get set. “Break time! See you back here, hardhats and earplugs, in 15! ” As before, I have a series of similar-sized rocks set up in the distance. I set an equivalent charge under each of the more common explosives. First, we go through the safety protocol. They did well and really got into FIRE IN THE HOLE song of my people. We begin. For each, I toot the air horn and wait for a few before detonating the charge. I decided that Id rather describe the upcoming action and let Lucas, under my direct observation, detonate the remainder. • Blasting cap. Rock jumps. • Blasting cap with boosters. It thuds back to earth with a healthy wallop. • 40% Extra Fast Dynamite. Rock shattered. • 60% Estra Fast Dynamite. Rock shattered and distributed over a wide area. • C-4. Rock shattered into millions of pieces over a very wide area. • ANFO. Ammonium nitrate and fuel oil. Rock propelled north at speed. Its a deflagrating, as opposed to a detonating, explosive. • Solid nitroglycerine. It took some doing to source even this small amount. Rock just plain gone. • PETN. Rock departed. • RDX. Rock absent. • Torpex. Rock vanished • Kinestik solid binary. Rock evaporated. • HELIX solid binary. Rock missing, presumed destroyed. • Energex liquid trinary. This was new, even for me. Rock disappeared, possibly in orbit around Venus. I announce that these are the typical explosives one will run into in the situations well be encountering. I explain they well mostly use C-4 and dynamite to close portals and adits. Well use more energetic explosives for intramine shafts, drifts, and raises. They all thought it was a great demonstration, and they had learned much. “But wait”, I smiled, “Theres more. These can be combined for additional effects. Mr. Lucas? ” Lucas smiles and tries to knock the bottom out of the blasting machine. There is a polychromatic explosion out in the desert. Blue, purple, sparkly, red, and orange debris flies out at multi-Mach speeds. The report is deafening. “That was one of my own design”, I say, “Five kilos of binary solid and trinary liquid. A little potassium permanganate, magnesium shavings, cobalt (III) peroxide, calcium carbonate, strontium sulfide, and titanium dioxide. It leaves a big, pretty round hole. ” Everyone was duly impressed. “OK, folks! ”, I say, “Thats it for today. Dinner in an hour, drinking light will be lit in 30. Tomorrow, we break up into groups and we make our first mine ingress, so plan accordingly. Smokem if you gotem. Later. ” Lucas helps me clean up and police the site. He totes all the debris to the dumpster, and I replace all the tools and explosives in the trailer and my truck. I make certain to securely lock both. After tea, were all sitting around, most participants broke up into cliquey little groups. I am taking notes. Im going to break these guys up into coteries with people whom they normally do not associate for tomorrows initial ingress. The next morning after a considerable breakfast of bacon, sausage, eggs, griddle cakes, sautéed mushrooms, hash browns, toast, English muffins, bagels, muffins, and coffee, where one chooses their favorite breakfast carb, I call the group to order. First thing, were going on photographic safari up to the mine adit. Im going to familiarize these folks with the anatomy of an abandoned mine. Up the road we schlep. Im carrying my gas monitor, to take some mine-mouth readings just in case. We arrive and I begin going over the types of things youll normally find around old abandoned mine adits, both industrial and societal, i. e., human debris. I point out the key structures and features of an adit; their construction, use for access, ventilation, drainage, and egress. I point out the primary features of an adit, that is, typically a lockable door and frame, cribbing/gobbing to ensure entry, how small drifts are sometimes driven laterally for storage rooms and mine mouth offices, for tote-boards recording mine entrance and exits, or storage of tools, or pyrotechnics. Once the mine is abandoned, I explain, everything of any value is removed by the human equivalent of vultures, jackals, hyenas, and maggots. What is perceived of little value or is immovable, is immediately destroyed by vandals, trespassers, and hooligans. All of this is, of course, highly illegal. Occasionally state or federal agencies get involved and create bat-blinds to close the mine to access for everything but bats, birds, and bugs. These, of course, are immediately destroyed by the previous group of dimwitted idiots, who rip them down because evidently no one tells them what to do. Especially if were out in a remote, desolate deserted desert location. Then the mine enters another phase, the party place. Locals discover a fine place to have cover for their nefarious deeds. They can party their diminutive brains out, well out of sight, indulge their degenerate carnal desires in total darkness, consume their illegal drugs in anonymity without fear of consequence, that is, until they get too spaced-out and walk over a rotten wooden false-floor above an open 1, 500-foot vertical shaft in the pitch blackness. Further, and heres a fun practice, many locals have taken to using disused mines as not-too-sanitary landfills. Mines are famous for their water and airflow, forked and tortuous shafts, and interconnections with the local water table and surface waters. That does not dissuade disingenuous dimwits from tossing carbon-based garbage deep into these mines. Things like dead farm animals, disused cannibals, elephants of Hannibal, and organics hoped inflammable. Things like bacon rinds and chicken bones, drippy ends of ice cream cones, prune pits, peach pits, orange peel, gloppy glumps of cold oatmeal, pizza crusts, and withered greens, soggy beans and tangerines, crusts of black burned buttered toast, gristly bits of beefy roasts, greasy napkins, cookie crumbs, globs of gooey bubble gum, cellophane from green baloney, rubbery blubbery macaroni, peanut butter, caked and dry, curdled milk and crusts of pie, moldy melons, dried-up mustard, eggshells mixed with lemon custard, cold french fries and rancid meat, yellowed lumps of Cream of Wheat. Add into this potpourri of putrescence a bit of water, some acid mine drainage, and suddenly, the Methanogens take over. The Methanogens are coming, theyre swarming in the Earth. Theyre extremophiles whove been around, since the planets birth. Converging in the continents, they're fearless and they're brave. They're cruising down through mineshafts and exploring every cave. Liberating gasses from the planet's long history, from Precambrian to Holocene, for all the world to see. These microscopic little chemoorganophiles go absolutely berserk in an orgy of free-feeding on all those loose carbon-based crunchies. Over time, mine atmospheric methane builds to 9-14% by volume air. Finally, just a single errant spark and the whole mine becomes one very large bomb. Sure, it puts me out of a job on that particular demolition project, but its indiscriminate and has been known to take the adjacent mining towns and their populace along with them when they go. I decided to take Lucas, Dr. D, and a few others on the physical first ingress or the mine. We kit out and meet at the adit. Its a straightforward entry, and besides the Tanglefoot, rusty cart rails, and old ore cart rail spikes decorating the floor like rusty punji sticks, its fairly innocuous as abandoned mines go. We travel to the workface, which was a straight shot down the main tunnel. We explore a couple of side-drifts, nothing of any great excitement. Then we discover the party room. Its actually behind a closed door, now off its hinges. It was one, that when the mine was active, shut off a large disused drift that was used as locker rooms, storage for mine mechanicals, and from the appearance of it, a lunchroom, if “Clean up after yourself! ” posters from the 1930s have anything to say. The more recent filth was indescribable. It was if packrats had moved in, created a foul, disgusting series of nests, abandoned them as unlivable, and then disreputable elements of the local bipedal population moved in. The room was littered with human feces, drug paraphernalia, rotted fast-food, just garbage of every description. It was horrendous from several points of view. I sometimes really loathe my species. I decided right then and there, that this room was getting a ‘special present. Further mine tours would mention the room, but further access was disallowed. Two more groups traipsed through the mine, took their notes, and got a good and quick education on the use of their various pieces of mine apparatus. I decided that Dr. D, Lucas, and I would wire this mine and let everyone watch and take notes. I suddenly wanted to kill this mine once and for all. We would demonstrate the methods of preparing the mine for explosives, then the explosives themselves. Then wed kill this fucking cesspit well true and dead. So, over the next day, we demonstrated how to use our Estwings to create retents along the mine adit for sticks of dynamite, how C-4 can be shaped to sever steel pipes, rails, and beams, and how ANFO can be used, as a bonus, as a large area cover-explosive. We spread 10 sacks of ammonium nitrate fertilizer on the floor of the mine and soaked it in diesel fuel. Then we primed it with super-boosted blasting caps. This would provide a more heaving, as opposed to shattering, detonation. Itd really ‘bring down the house. Plus, as an extra, extra bonus, I planted a 100-pound torpedo of Torpex, PETN, RDX, dynamite, and Kinestik binary in the fetid party room. I sealed the door with a portable welder because as much as no one should ever have had to go into that place, I made certain they no longer could under any circumstances. We ran all the demolition wires back to camp. The death of this mine was to be an event. Truth be told, I was diggin all the enthusiasm from this crowd, they were really getting into the destruction of the mine. I guess it stirred their primal blood lust, held in check for oh these so many years. I was also enjoying the notoriety as a Master of Ceremonies. It tweaked that little bit of showman in us all. So, just after dinner and before dark, we put on a little show. D, Lucas, and I were ringleaders of this circus. We had everyone well away from the mine, all sitting in lawn chairs, bean bag chairs, or portable hammocks, watching to see what happens to the mine where they so recently had introductions.
